Seagate gab bekannt, dass man mittels eines exklusiven Übereinkommens die Kontrolle über LaCie übernehmen werde. Der Festplatten-Riese offerierte Philippe Spruch, LaCie's Chairmain und CEO, sowie auch seinen Partnern, all ihre Anteilsscheine zu erwerben.
Durch diesen Schritt würde Seagate mit 64.5 Prozent an LaCie beteiligt. Sollten die Französischen Behörden der Übernahme zustimmen, dann würde dies unter andrem bedeuten, dass LaCie als Unternehmen 186 Millionen US-Dollar an Wert hätte.

Seagate has offered Mr. Spruch and his affiliate €4.05 per share in cash, minus a potential adjustment depending on the cash and debt position of LaCie at closing.
