ASUS unveils Republic of Gamers (ROG) XG Station 2

A new external graphics enclosure

The Republic of Gamers (ROG) XG Station was announced almost 10 years ago and apparently it took the company quite long until they finally released a new version. Nevertheless it looks like the Republic of Gamers (ROG) XG Station 2 is going to be available in Q1 2017.

ASUS was amongst the first companies to come up with an external case for graphics cards. Compared to the predecessor, the new version is completely different and it is more just a box to put your graphics card inside. Right after Razer and PowerColor, also ASUS is now ready with such an enclosure which offers the same functionality.

According to the product page, the ASUS XG Station 2 features a 500W power supply with two 6+2-pin PCIe connectors and 80Plus Gold efficiency rating. The box can be combined with almost any recent GPU as long as you want to plug a card that’s maximum 2.5 slots thick and no longer than 310 millimeters.

If you are concerned about cooling then there is no need to worry since ASUS has added three 70mm fans which can be put into the top of the unit. In addition the ROG XG Station 2 features RGB Led lightning, which can be managed, using ASUS Aura software.

The rear part of the box comes with a set of useful connectors. There are four USB 3.0, one USB 3.1 Type-C, one Thunderbolt 3 and one Ethernet 10/100/1000 port. So far ASUS has not revealed details on pricing and availability on their Republic of Gamers (ROG) XG Station 2 but we are sure we will get to know more during upcoming CES 2017.
