More Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake benchmarks

Easily hits 5.0GHz at 1.29V

While we already seen plenty of details and benchmarks of Intel's upcoming Kaby Lake lineup, today we have some more of Intel's flagship Kaby Lake Core i7-7700K SKU.

In case you missed it, the flagship SKU in Intel's upcoming 7th generation Core Kaby Lake CPU lineup is the Core i7-7700K, a quad-core part with Intel Hyper-Threading, 4.2GHz base and 4.5GHz Turbo clocks, 256KB of L2 cache per core and 8MB of shared L3 cache. It has a 91W TDP and a listed price of US $349.

The latest Core i7-7700K benchmarks were obtained on a current Z170 platform, with MSI Z170A Gaming Pro motherboard with latest BIOS update, Galaxy HOF DDR4-4133 memory, MSI GTX 1070 DUKE graphics card, DeepCool Big Frost Tower Extreme CPU cooler and Samsung 256GB M.2 SSD.

This also confirms that Intel's newest Kaby Lake lineup will work perfectly on current LGA1151 100-series motherboards but will lack some features that will be available with the new 200-series motherboards, expected to launch alongside 7th generation Core Kaby Lake desktop CPUs sometime in January next year.

According to details and provided benchmarks, the Core i7-7700K, at stock clocks, scores 913 points in Cinebench R15 CPU test, 17049 points in Fritz Chess and 10838 points in 3DMark 11 Extreme Physics score.

In addition to these stock clock performance details, Zolkorn.com also had a chance to overclock the same CPU and managed to hit 5.0GHz at just 1.29V. While the CPU was stable, it did hit 100C at those settings, suggesting that while it can overclock well, you will need extreme cooling in order to keep the temperatures down during overclocking as it certainly heats up.

As noted, there have been plenty of benchmarks from the rest of the upcoming Kaby Lake lineup and all we need now is to wait for Intel to officially launch it. While it won't be a big update from the earlier available Skylake architecture, it is still a decent update for those updating from older CPU architectures.
