AMD 8-core Zen could cost as low as US $300

16-thread SKU

According to latest information surfacing at Reddit, it appears that AMD's upcoming Zen-based FX-series 8-core/16-thread CPU might be quite cheap, offering amazing performance for its price.

While this is still just a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt, the latest details on Reddit suggest that AMD's upcoming Zen-based FX-series 8-core CPU with 16-threadsy could cost as low as US $300.

If the post is true, this means that AMD could be offering some impressive bang for buck. The post also says that Zen is "neck and neck" with Intel, which is impressive, especially since the post suggest that it does it "even at low res where CPU bound."

According to earlier details, AMD is hitting 4.2GHz overclocked and over 5GHz on LN2 which is great for an engineering sample.

This means that AMD will finally offer some good performance competition to Intel in the CPU market and with such prices, it might just have a winner on its hands with Zen CPU architecture.
