Samsung might not use Snapdragon 810 on Galaxy S6

Coming equipped with Samsung Exynos SoC

According to the latest report, it appears that Samsung might have decided not to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset on its latest upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6, but rather its own Samsung Exynos SoC.

While there have been plenty of talk regarding Snapdragon 810 overheating issues, which was quickly denied by Qualcomm, Bloomberg.com now reports that Samsung might have decided not to use that same chipset with its upcoming Galaxy S6 flagship smartphone. Bloomberg.com quotes unnamed industry sources which are quite sure that Samsung has already made the decision but did not want to announce it publically.

It appears that Samsung has decided in favor of its Exynos chipsets and while it had to stick with Qualcomm's designs previously, due to the lack of LTE connectivity, Samsung's latest chipset has LTE and packs quad- Cortex-A57 and quad- Cortex-A53 cores but with Mali GPU instead of Adreno GPU found in Snapdragon 810 SoC.

Samsung's Galaxy S6 flagship smartphone is expected to be announced during MWC 2015 show in Barcelona, in early March, and should be available soon after the announcement. Earlier, Samsung has invested US $15 billion in a new factory for chipsets and it does make sense to use its own chipset.

The news had quite an impact on both Samsung's and Qualcomm's stock.
