Plextor unveils its M6e Black Edition PCIe SSD

In 128, 256 and 512GB capacities

Plextor has announced its latest flagship PCI-Express based solid state drive aimed at enthusiasts, the M6e Black Edition.

Based on a PCI-Express interface, the new Plextor M6e Black Edition is pretty much an M.2 SSD based on a Marvell 88SS9183 controller paired up with 19nm Toggle NAND flash and 1GB DRAM cache placed on a PCI-Express 2.0 x4 riser card and cooled by an aluminum heatsink.

While it is just an M.2 SSD on a riser PCI-Express 2.0 x4 card, it still offers impressive sequential transfer speeds of up to 770MB/s for read and 625MB/s for write and 4K random performance of up to 105,000 IOPS for read and 100,000 IOPS for write. The new M6e Black Edition SSD from Plextor also draws power from a single SATA power connector and features Plextor's proprietary PlexTurbo 2.0 software caching technology as well as TRIM, NCQ and NVMe.

Unfortunately, Plextor did not reveal any details regarding M6e Black Edition price but did note that it should be available soon.
