In addition to the full line of A-series Kaveri APUs, AMD has also unveiled two new CPUs, the Athlon 860K and the FX-8300.
Based on 28nm Kaveri architecture, the Athlon 860K is a quad-core CPU which does not feature integrated graphics part but packs four Steamroller CPU cores clocked at 3.7GHz, 2MB of L2 cache and can fit into FM2+ socket motherboards based on A88x, A85, A75 and the A55 chipset.
While previously already available, but only for OEMs, the FX-8300 is an eight-core CPU based on 32nm Vishera architecture. It packs eight CPU Piledriver cores in four modules, clocked at 3.2GHZ with 3.5GHZ Turbo Core, 2MB of L2 cache per module and 8MB of L3 cache. It has an 95W TDP and should be on retail shelves next to the Athlon 860K.
While A-series APUs might be interesting for an average consumer, enthusiasts and gamers rather prefer these CPUs, for both their unlocked multiplier and fact that they will pair it with dedicated graphics card.
